So whats new -
July 2010
Can anyone remember such a wonderful start to the summer...we've had another month of beautiful weather with long sunny days and warm balmy evenings. The pub has been buzzing with activity from Breakfast till last orders and it's been great to see lots of old friends in the bar and restaurant enjoying some of the new specials. The fresh Lobster, Crab Claws and Sea Bass have been very popular with everyone (big thanks to Jacques for that).
The Thatchmobile has caused quiet a stir too. It really is a great little car - lots of fun being had by all the staff who get to drive it on their days off. It's already had a bump :(...thanks to Des who seems to have parked it on a rock - leaving a nice skull shaped dent under the door sill!
That doesn't really matter too much - whoever wins our 'thatch25 Comp' will get the keys to a brand new Fiat 500c next April. So check out the website over the next few days to find out how to enter; and you could be the lucky WINNER! Just don't let Des drive it.
Any old friends might want to visit Facebook - thatch25 for some good laughs!
June 2010
May was fantastic.. and June's looking even better! Come down and join in with the 25 year celebrations and you could win a car.
Look out for our hot little Fiat 500c out and about this summer...and check out the competition we're running for the rest of the year; some lucky devil is going to be picking up the keys to a brand new Fiat 500c next April..just in time to enjoy for next summer.
Launching soon - look out for thatch25.com for full details.
May 2010
The temperature forecast for this weekend hits 20+ for the first time this year! Is the long winter finally gone. I do hope so. Sunday is expected to reach 24c ...wow! I think we can thank David and Nick, they clearly have everything under control.
-Just had a fantastic day on the beach, sun, surf and good company. Followed by some cold beer and nachos at The Thatch. Perfect Day!
You must sample some of the new wines at the Thatch for this summer. My favourite at the mo is a little red number from Portugal. Irrevente from Berias; it's described as 'smoky, black and powerful, full of vitality and bright spiced berries' Absolutely lush!
On the Thatch menu new for this year are Ostrich Burgers, very, very good. Deep flavour with a nice texture. Highly recommended.
April: 2010
The rooms at Billy Budds have all been refurbished over the winter, now looking much better!
The two little pokey rooms 14 and 15 have been knocked about and now there's just one room no. 14 - its lovely, with good quality twin beds that push together easily to make an 'austrian' style double. Also there enough space for a good z-bed so its a good room for three people to share.
Lots of compliments coming in about the front of Billys, which is looking great. The pointing work really makes a big difference. Many thanks to Baddick Bros for a job well done.
And Gary Court is happy at last having repainted the pub he grew up in, in a colour he approves of. Thanks too to his team for their speedy work.
